What are Kathleen's Favorite Things ? Wildlife images fused into fine art! Explore the Great Smoky National Park and return to studio to transform images into glass studies. Workshop combines the gathering of data in the field with sketch books and camera, then back to the studio and library computers for additional research on subjects. Color, light, shadow, landscape.... all areas explored to create vitreous painting studies in glass. When possible, the class will be joined by biologists, naturalists or other knowledgeable personnel to provide information about the area and the flora and fauna you can expect to see. One does not have to be able to draw to take this workshop. Just use your eyes. Beyond bringing regular glass tools suggestions are camera, small day pack, binoculars, sketch pad, pencils or other art medium for field, small notebook for field notes, sun screen, bug repellent and a hat. Adventure is a foot!
Due to the field work in this special workshop students have the option to come in for a pre session field trip to the park. An initial trip to the Museum at the visitor's center and reconnaissance to orient ourselves for the full week that is to follow. This will be on Sunday afternoon, June 26, 2011.
