This is the part two slump of Mrs. Loggerhead’s carapace of many colors. The first slump was done in a custom made bisque mold. This second phase I molded a clay model of the carapace and set it in the glass plastron to help assure a proper fit. I formed the plaster mold from the clay model sitting in and on the glass plastron. The images are a small selection of that process. Many thanks to Team Member Carol Webb, owner of C3 studios, and her husband Paul’s assistance, for providing the studio and kiln space, so we could finish the carapace for Mrs. Loggerhead. In addition we finished the rest of the oil and healthy ocean sections for our Cycle of Life environmental art education sculpture.

Thank you to Team Member, Cathy Coverley, for designing and fusing the beautiful carapace and casting the plastron with head, tail and flippers, while we were working on the project at the Corning Museum of Glass.
